Welcome to the Vivid Vervet edition of Ubuntu Kylin, a special edition of the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu Linux, designed especially for the Chinese community. It is built around the Unity desktop environment and includes several enhancements and apps for Chinese-speaking users. Of course, this means that Chinese is the default language for the entire OS.

Distributed as 32-bit/64-bit Live DVDs

The Ubuntu Kylin 15.04 is distributed as Live DVD ISO images that have a little over 1 GB each in size and are deployable on DVD discs or USB flash drives of 2GB or higher capacity. The Live DVDs can be used on both 32-bit and 64-bit computers. The distribution is supported with security updates and patches until October 2015.

Boot options

While the Live DVDs have been instructed to automatically start the live system with normal configuration in ten seconds from the moment the user boots the ISO image from the BIOS of a computer, you can access the boot menu by pressing any key on your keyboard.

Default boot options include the ability to start the live system with default options, start the installer directly, check the bootable medium for defects (only if booting from a DVD disc), run a memory test, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the local drive.
