Welcome to the Vivid Vervet edition of the Lubuntu Linux operating system, an open source, freely distributed, portable and lightweight distribution derived from the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu, and built around the LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) graphical desktop interface.

The Vivid Velvet edition of Lubuntu is dubbed 15.04 and will be officially unveiled by Canonical on April 2015, supported with kernel patches, software updates and security fixes until January 2016. It is currently supported for the 64-bit (x86_64/amd64), 32-bit (x86/i386) and PowerPC (PPC) hardware platforms.
Beautiful, attractive and low on resources desktop

The LXDE desktop environment used in this Lubuntu edition looks beautiful and attractive, engineered to be low on resources, thus supported on low-end machine or computers with old hardware components. It boasts a traditional layout comprised of a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen, which includes Main Menu, Workspace Switcher, Task Manager, App Launcher and System Tray applets.
