                                        Chromixium Beta 0.8

                      http://sourceforge.net/projects/chromixium/
Chromixium is a free and open source distribution of Linux derived from the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu, and inspired by Google’s Chrome OS / Chromium OS projects.
Distributed as a 32-bit Live DVD image

The Chromixium OS is distributed as a Live DVD ISO image that has approximately 900 MB in size and contains software packages optimized only for the 32-bit instruction set architecture. The user can write the ISO image on a DVD disc or a USB thumb drive (recommended) in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer.
Can be used in live mode or installed

The Chromixium Live DVD comes with a minimal boot menu, which includes the ability to start the live system with normal configuration, in safe graphics mode (in case your video card is not recongnized by the first boot option) or in debug more.
Uses a highly customized version of GNOME

The distro features a highly customized version of the GNOME graphical desktop environment, made to be identical in functionality, as well as look and feel with Chrome OS’ desktop interface. To achieve this, the developers used the Openbox window manager, Compton desktop compositor, Plank dock and LXPanel. By default, users will be dropped to a login screen where they have to use the “user” password (without quotes) to login.
